7th District Congressman Charles Boustany joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today and discussed among things how the country is headed to financial disaster because of Congress's actions.

Congressman Boustany said,

"We have a significant part of the entire tax code expiring on December 31st.  That means everybody's taxes go up.  Capital gains, dividends, the marriage tax, the alternative minimum tax, rates on everything will go up.  It's about $4.5 trillion in taxes over ten years."

Boustany went on to say,

"Congress should be working on this.  In fact I voted against the adjournment resolution at the beginning of August.  My opponent, Jeff Landry voted for adjournment.  I think that's wrong...It's creating all kinds of uncertainty for small businesses.  There are some in Congress who have said "let's just punt this into next year".  Can you believe that.  They would throw the whole country into recession and Mr. Landry is one of them.  He says 'punt'.  That is irresponsible."
