Today on 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' 7th District Congressman Charles Boustany says a request for proposals is going out today to make changes to the Lafayette VA facilities.  Boustany said that means either construction will be begin on new facilities or retrofitting of the present VA building.

Recently Congressman Boustany visited the temporary Lake Charles VA clinic which he said was rather nice but he noticed two things that upset him.  According to Boustany,

"There was no place for the veterans to wait for admission.  They were sitting outside in the parking lot in the heat.  The owner of a nearby building with air-conditioning and a bathroom allowed vets to use his building while waiting.  I asked the employees at the VA office 'what's the deal with this' and they replied 'it's not in the contract' so I told them to fix it!"

Boustany said he has employees at his offices in Lafayette and Lake Charles to help veterans deal with the red-tape associated with the Veterans Association as well as the IRS.
