Congressman Charles Boustany stopped by to visit 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today to answer our questions and to field phone calls from the News Junkie audience as well.

Congressman Boustany discussed:

  • VA clinics
  • NSA funding
  • Obamacare
  • His Town Hall meeting tonight

On the topic of the Veteran's Administration clinics Congressman Boustany said,

We have two clinics, one in Alexandria and one in Lake Charles but we have clinics all across this country that are put on 'hold' and all future clinics because of stupid bureaucracy.  I'm doing everything I can to fight that.  We have the VA bureaucracy, we the Budget Office bureaucracy and now it's up to the House and Senate leadership to step and do the right thing for the veterans.

According to Congressman Boustany,

The President arbitrarily decided to delay implementation of another aspect of Obamacare, the employer mandate.  This something I've been trying to repeal for three years...They're breaking the law because they are picking and choosing what they want to implement.

We asked Congressman Boustany to explain once again his refusal to defund the N.S.A. (National Security Agency) as part of the Defense Appropriations bill and he said,

If you're going to address the problems with this program or eliminate this program you have to do it where the authority was created and that's in the Intelligence Authorization Bill and the Patriot Act itself...15 minutes of debate in a spending bill is not the place to try to do that.

Congressman Boustany will hold a Town Hall meeting tonight (8/6/13) at the Holidome on the Evangeline Thru-Way from 6pm to 7pm.
