Today on 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' Congressman Jeff Landry said the problem with the National Defense Authorization Act last year was the fact that the Chief Executive could detain American citizens for an indefinite amount of time.

On the issue of habeas corpus Landry said, "habeas corpus is a basic fundamental due-process  right and so what we did is, we strengthened the bill so that anyone who is picked up is guaranteed to go before a judge to plead his case."

Landry said he received hundreds of e-mails, facebook posts and phone calls concerning the NDAA to make sure the President or anyone else could not detain them without just cause.
