With students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette beginning classes, many may be surprised with the continuation of construction activity on campus.

William Crist, director of facility management, said that construction, including a brand new student union that will be ready for students by the spring semester of 2015, has been long overdue and should provide students something to be proud of.

Quite possibly the best part, at least according to Crist? Virtually none of it uses university general fund dollars and is funded in large part by student self-assessed fees.
