THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Construction has begun on a new meeting place for people in Lafourche Parish's Alidore community.

The 4,000-square-foot facility in the community just off LouisianHighway 308 in Raceland will feature an auditorium and recreational space along with meeting rooms. It is to be completed in January.

According to The Daily Comet, Parish President Charlotte Randolph said the parish intends to host a new Head Start program at the center.

Currently, the nearest Head Start location for residents of Alidore is in Lockport.
