Yesterday morning, Louisiana State Troopers responded to a call about a copper theft happening at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development office in Lake Charles.

Troopers arrived at the office just off of highway 90 and learned that about 1000 feet of wiring was taken with a value of about $5,000. Officers began checking the wooded areas nearby and came across a man running from the scene.

Bradley Edwards was caught and is charged with theft over $1,000, burglary, simple criminal damage to property, and flight from an officer.

If convicted, Edwards can face as much as 23 years in prison and a $6,500 fine. The investigation continues and more arrests are possible.
