Corps To Strengthen New Orleans Floodwalls
December 12, 2010 8:53 PM The corps wants to make the floodwalls stronger by driving new sheetpile and adding embankment at the crown of the levees along the canals. The work will be done on the 17th Street and London Avenue canals and the corps says the work will make the floodwalls more stable and cut down on the risk of seepage under the walls.
On Friday, the corps announced that it had hired Integrated Pro Services LLC. and Bailey-CKV JV, small businesses run by disabled veterans, to do the work.
Work on London Avenue will cost $17.9 million and the work on 17th Street will cost $10.2 million.
