Court Date Delayed For Ex-Jennings Police Chief

A former Jennings police chief, Johnny Lassiter, was to appear in court Monday, but the trial has been reset now for November 14.

Lassiter is accused of taking things from the department's evidence room.  Lassiter was the person in charge of the evidence room at the time the thefts happened.

He was arrested on charges of theft and malfeasance after an audit of t5he evidence room showed drugs and other items were missing.

Lassiter pleaded guilty to theft, malfeasance and obstruction charges earlier this year.
