CROWLEY, La. (KPEL) -- Police have arrested a man after residents complained he was possibly breaking into cars.

According to Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson, police were alerted about suspicious activity in the Wright Ave. area of the city.

Responding officers combed the neighborhood, Gibson said, where they found a suspect, 36-year-old Joseph Etienne of Crowley, matching the description they were given.

"As officers stopped the subject," Gibson said, "they discovered that the subject was in possession of a shotgun within a case."

Officers determined that shotgun was stolen from a vehicle that Etienne had allegedly broken into earlier, Gibson said.

Etienne was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on charges of burglary and felon in possession of a firearm.

Gibson said Etienne had been charged several times in the past on theft, burglary, and narcotics charges.
