Unites States Attorney Stephanie Finley's office says that 44-year-old Ricky J. Scott of Crowley was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Dee Drell to 90 months in prison for robbing a Cloutierville U.S. Post Office.

Scott was also sentenced to three years of supervised release for the crime.

Finley's office says Scott pleaded guilty to robbery of U.S. property.

According to evidence, on August 24, 2012, Scott approached a postal worker who was alone n the Cloutierville post office and pretended to purchase a money order.

After the employee opened the cash drawer, Scott, who appeared to have a weapon in his pocket, threatened her.  He then demanded that she hand over the money in the register.

The postal worker handed over the money, and Scott fled the scene.
