Gibson will soon be the new Acadia Parish Sheriff, but he said he will be leaving his post at the Crowley Police Department better than he left it.

He said, 14 years ago, when he was first elected, police officers earned $1,250 per month. Now, officers can expect a starting pay of nearly $2,500 per month.

As sheriff, Gibson said he wants to add more patrol deputies to Acadia Parish highways and byways., as well as. continue fighting a growing drug problem in his jurisdiction.

The Chief told KPEL's Rob and Bernie an arrest warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Ronald Babineaux who is wanted for a shooting at the Crowley Wal-Mart Saturday.

Police are asking anyone with information on Babineaux's whereabouts to call their tip line anonymously. You can call 337-789-TIPS/8477.  You could get up to a $1,000 reward.
