Police in Crowley are investigating a rash of car burglaries which have occurred in the last four to six weeks.

Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson says more than 30 cars throughout the city have been broken into, but the north and northeastern have been the hardest hit. In many cases, Gibson says, the suspects broke the windows in order to get in.

Gibson says the thieves have been targeting GPS devices, phones, purses, and briefcases, among other things.

"Several persons have been arrested," Gibson says, "however, it is law enforcement's  belief that these crimes are being committed by several different groups of people working separately. "

If you have any information about these burglaries, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-TIPS.
