Crowley police will hold their annual "Shop With a Cop" even Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Walmart there.

According to Crowley police chief K.P. Gibson, officers have been donating their own time and money throughout the year to make sure the event is a success for the approximately 60 children who will partake.

"Officers and children will shop together for a child's Christmas wish gift during these hours, and children will be able to take their gifts home that day as a special present from officers," Gibson said.

The program fosters a relationship between police and the community, Gibson said.

"We are deeply honored to continue [this program] for our department," Gibson added. "We have a tremendous group of officers in this department with very giving hearts. This is just another opportunity for them to be able to show their love for this community and its people."
