Campaign finance reports filed today show incumbent Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne's campaign has roughly a half-million dollars in the bank, while his republican challenger, Billy Nungesser, has over a
million.

LSU political science professor Robert Hogan says such a big sum in a challenger's warchest could make an incumbent take pause. Dardenne's campaign finance report lists on-hand funds at just over
$524,000. Nungesser's report shows $1, 063,000.00 on-hand. Hogan says that half-million dollar difference is bound to trouble Dardenne.

Nungesser is under federal investigation for allegedly fixing bids with his parish, and for steering oil spill cleanup contracts to cronies. Hogan says Dardenne's reputation is scandal free, while Nungesser's name
recognition has a few problems.
