US Senator David Vitter stopped by "Mornings with Ken and Bernie" today to discuss some national and local issues.

The Senator has been busy attending town hall meetings across the state in order to address the individual needs of communities across Louisiana. At a recent meeting, the Senator tackled gator overpopulation.

A few weeks ago at a town hall meeting we learned that there is an overpopulation of alligators in the Henderson Swamp area. It causes real problems for fishermen because the gators destroy their expensive fishing nets. They're also a hazard for recreational users who do skiing and other water sports. We went to the Corps of Engineers who have jurisdiction and rattled their cage. It took a few weeks but they've finally issued a significant number of more gator tags to help control the population.

The Senator also discussed Vice President Joe Biden's recent controversial comments suggesting the Republican party "will put y'all back in chains."

I've served with Joe in the Senate so I can't say I'm surprised. It's par for the course. He's always made these ridiculous comments. This particular comment is just really offensive and stupid and everything else under the sun. For him to suggest he didn't mean it in any racial way is just really offensive.
