A Monroe man, 35-year-old Eric Frazier plead guilty to second-degree murder shortly before his trial was to start.  Frazier was charged with beating his stepfather to death with a piece of firewood because he didn’t want his mother married to the man.

Prosecuting attorney George Ross said District Judge Robert Johnson accepted the plea after advising Frazier of his rights.  Frazier will be sentenced July 14.

The investigation revealed there was no indication Frazier's mother wanted her husband dead
