MONROE, La. (AP) — LouisianaDelta Community College is seeking to relocate its Winnsboro campus to a larger and more modern facility.

The News-Star reports the college is requesting capital outlay money to fund the project, which is expected to cost $5.2 million — $1.2 million for the acquisition of the facility, $3.6 million for renovation of the facility and $400,000 for equipment.

The proposed project will fund the acquisition and renovation of a former furniture warehouse located within one mile of the current campus location.

Delta's interim chancellor Jerry Ryan says the current Winnsboro campus was built in the 1960s and would require more money to renovate than it would to purchase and renovate the former warehouse.
