BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) — Workers are demolishing part of the former Bossier Medical Center as Willis-Knighton Health System finalizes plans for the property in Bossier City.

Willis-Knighton bought the hospital property in March.

Marilyn Joiner, Willis-Knighton spokeswoman, tells The Times some of the former hospital building will remain.

Joiner said health system officials are firming up plans for the property, but don't have details yet.

The hospital operated as a publicly funded facility before Bossier City sold it to Christus Schumpert Health System. Christus Schumpert closed the hospital in 2002. Smaller, independent health care providers operated in parts of the hospital until 2009.
