DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) — State police have arrested a Denham Springs City Councilman on suspicion of drunken driving.

Trooper Russell Graham tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/OgxEIn ) 36-year-old Christopher Davis was booked into Livingston Parish Jail around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on one count each of first-offense DWI, hit and run, careless operation, no driver's license on person, no insurance and flight from an officer.

Graham says Davis was involved in an accident and drove away from the scene.

He says Davis drove to his Denham Springs home, where troopers took him into custody.

Davis bonded out around 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Davis began his term on the city council in January 2011. He unsuccessfully ran for Livingston Parish Council this past fall.

It's not clear whether Davis has an attorney.
