Former Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has been added to the coaching staff of the New Orleans Saints.

The 42-year old Allen, who was fired after four games as the Raiders’ head coach last year, went 8-28 in two-plus years with the franchise.

Allen, who will serve in a senior defensive role capacity on the Saints' coaching staff, was previously an assistant coach for the Saints from 2006-2010, coaching the defensive line and the secondary, before leaving to accept the defensive coordinator position with the Denver Broncos in 2011.

A graduate of Texas A&M, Allen, also had coaching stints at Texas A&M (1996-1999) and Tulsa (2000-2001) at the college level, and the Atlanta Falcons (2002-2005) at the professional level.
