Deputies In St. Mary Parish Have A Suspect In ATV Thefts

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 18-year-old Roland August of Sorrel after the man is accused of stealing a four wheeler and fleeing from an officer.

On May 22, deputies got a call that a four wheeler had been stolen from an address on Gibby Road.

On May 26, a patrol deputy saw August riding the stolen ATV, but when he tried to stop him, August ran into the woods.

With the help of the Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, the ATV was recovered.

After August went into the Sheriff's Office in Franklin to talk about the case, he was arrested.

Detectives believe this case is likely related to the case of ATV that was stolen on May 21.

In both cases, the victims had their ATV's for sale on Craiglist, and the potential buyer, each time, took the ATV for a 'test ride", but never came back.
