An 80-year-old ordinance might get a little update in DeQuincy. The ordinance, passed back in 1936, limits the alcohol content of drinks to 3.2% when the establishment is within 300 feet of a school.

This ordinance is being considered for change after a local restaurant owner asked the DeQuincy City Council to consider it. Comeaux's Cajun Gold is the restaurant in question, and Mr. Comeaux says that he doesn't intend on putting a bar in the restaurant, but would like to serve beer and wine to his guests.

Council member Denise Maddox suggested that some council members meet with city attorney Douglas Cox and work on the changes that can suit everyone's needs.
