Investigators determined a woman whose body was found Saturday was strangled to death.

Forty-year-old Mandy Kirl's body was discovered by Caddo Parish deputies after her boyfriend, Jeremy Bunch Sr., went to the police station and confessed that "something bad happened." Beauregard Parish Sheriff's spokesperson Joe Toler said Bunch turned himself in.

"We sent detectives and deputies out to the residence, and there we found his girlfriend had been the victim of a homicide," Toler said.

Toler said Kirl was found on Saturday, but she could have been dead since Wednesday night. He said her body is currently being examined by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office, but the preliminary autopsy report determined the cause of death was strangulation.

Bunch was booked into a Beauregard Parish jail and has been charged with second degree murder.

"We believe it was a domestic situation that just went bad," Toler said.
