In an article published by Acadianabusiness.com, Stirling Properties and CBL & Associates Properties (owner of Acadiana Mall) are planning on purchasing a large tract of land near the intersection of Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery, and using that development to bring Costco to Lafayette.

The proposed 58 acre development area is between the new Lourdes facility and the Grand 14 on Kaliste Saloom. Development of the area is expected to begin by the end of 2014 and plans a potential opening date of October 2015. This is the same area where a residential development was planned, until the recession made it unfeasible to continue the project.

Costco, a membership-only warehouse club, is the second largest retailer in America and seventh largest in the world. The Costco facility would be the anchor for the rest of the retail development.
