BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 28-year-old Baton Rouge man was shot and killed outside his apartment complex following an argument with four other men.

Police tell The Advocate that Royal Anthony Jones was sitting with a group of friends when he received a text message at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A little later, Cpl. L'Jean McKneely says a vehicle with four men in it pulled up to the parking lot.

McKneely says the men started arguing with Royal Jones, and at some point, one of the them told nearby women and children to go inside.

McKneely says Jones was shot in the head by one of the men.

Police are searching for the suspects in the slaying.
