Today on 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' we spoke with security/terrorism expert and author Kerry Patton about the seeming disrespect of military heroes.  Patton latest book, "Contracted: America's Secret Warriors" is available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Recently Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was laid to rest after being shot and killed by someone suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and we questioned why Kyle was not afforded the respect of the nation as was pop star Whitney Houston.  Patton noted that,

The nation did not lower the flags per any executive order or the President.  That was a state initiative ordered by Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, Houston's home state.  But I do agree we did a disservice for Chris Kyle by not lowering the flags nationwide.

According to Patton those at the local level did honor Kyle,

The ground movement at the local level did an extraordinary job in Texas and across the country to line 100 miles of the road leading to Texas Stadium where Kyle's memorial service was held.  We the people need to continuously step up our game and not rely on the Federal Government to tell us what to do.

We also asked Patton his views on the Navy SEAL who participated in the killing of Osma Bin Laden and now is complaining that he is not eligible for veterans benefits.  You can hear Patton's response and more by listening to the interview:
