UL junior pitcher Carson Baranik

 

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun junior pitcher Carson Baranik  in the 33rd round, with pick number 999, on the third day of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Saturday.

A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, Barakink  is 11-1 with a 3.27 earned run average in 2014.

A first team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, Baranik, a product of Parkway High School High School, has thrown 99 innings, allowing 87 hits, 36 earned runs, and 23 walks, while striking out 70 batters, heading into this weekend’s NCAA Super Regional series against the Ole Miss Rebels.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander was named the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2014, his first year at UL.
