Domestic Dispute In New Orleans Leads To Gunshot Wound Of Little Boy

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Police in New Orleans say a domestic dispute led to gunfire that wounded a 5-year-old boy in the leg.

Police say the Sunday night incident happened at a residence in eastern New Orleans.

The child's wound was not believed to be life-threatening.

New Orleans police spokeswoman Officer Hilal Williams said the injured boy's father was intoxicated when he got into an argument with his wife. Williams said the father began firing his weapon at the wife. A bullet traveled through a wall and into an adjoining room where the boy was hit.

The father is in custody, facing an attempted murder charge.
