The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says starting today until Thursday, December 19, Admiral Doyle Drive west of Louisiana Highway 671, which is Canal Street, will be closed to allow crews to install drainage structures.

The closure will take place from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., weather permitting.

Detours for the road closure will be Louisiana Highways 671 and 182.

The DOTD says the work is related to the $8 million Canal Street project that involves widening a 1.5-mile stretch of roadway from two lanes to three lanes.

DOTD adds that the center lane on the new roadway will contain a two-way-left-turn lane.
