The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says there will be road work in Iberia and St. Martin Parishes next week which will lead to some lane closures.

In Iberia Parish, the intersection of Canal Street (Highways 671 and 688) at Admiral Doyle Drive (Highway 668) will be closed for two weeks beginning on Monday April 21 as crews are working to finish roadway construction at that intersection.

There are two detours for the closure:

  • • U.S. 90 Eastbound: Detour will be U.S. 90 to La. 85 to La. 182.
  • • U.S. 90 Westbound: Detour will be U.S. 90 to La. 318 to La. 182.

DOTD says the work is related to the $8 million Canal Street project that will widen the roadway from two lanes to three.

In St. Martin Parish, Highway 31 in St. Martinville will have alternating lane closures starting on Monday, April 21.  The closure of Highway 31 will be between Governor Mouton and Railroad Avenue including the downtown St. Martinville area.

DOTD says the project will take about seven days to complete, and they do not want motorists to park along the shoulders of the roadway for those seven day.
