The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns hit the road Thursday and defeat the UT-Arlington Mavericks 66-65 with a buzzer-beating three-pointer by forward Dou Gueye.

With just under three seconds remaining UL's Tirus Smith was called for goaltending on a Coleman Sparling lay-up. The lay-up was described by Jay Walker to look like it was going to be short of going in the basket. The officials looked at it on replay but the call stood and that gave the Mavs a 65-63 lead.

With the Cajuns having to go the length of the court Dou Gueye got the pass, turned and shot the basketball and nailed the three-pointer to give the Cajuns a one-point advantage. The officials went back to look and see if there was any time left on the clock but after a few minutes determined that the game was over. Cajuns win it.

The defense was solid for Louisiana in this one as they held UTA to just 29 points at the half but the Mavs stormed out of the halftime locker room and quickly tied the game soon after the half.

Rebounding was a huge factor in this one for UL as they outrebounded Arlington 47-36 and grabbed six more offensive rebounds. Those offensive rebounds led to 32 points in the paint for the Cajuns as well.

Jalen Johnson led the way with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds while Cedric Russell added 13 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

One of the guys who really stood out in this one for UL was Chris Spenkuck who scored six points, grabbed six rebounds, played solid defense and didn't turn the ball over in 13 minutes.

With the win, Louisiana moves to 9-13 overall and 4-7 in Sun Belt Conference play.

They'll hit the hardwood next on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in San Marcos, Texas facing Texas State (13-9, 6-5 SBC).
