If you are like me, you like gumbo. Seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, okra gumbo - I like it all.

On January 19, I will be in a zombie-like comatose state as I meander through the streets and venues of Downtown Lafayette in search of my next bowl of gumbo. The Inaugural "Downtown Gumbo Crawl" will be taking place, and I will be on a mission!

From what I've read on the Facebook Event Page, 8-ounce samples will be served at each participating venue, beginning at Dat Dog (registration there is from 5:30 - 7 PM). At registration, you will get a wristband and badge that will get you in to each venue for your next bowl of gumbo (I wanted them to put a gumbo stain on everyone's shirt for entry, but my idea was shot down, citing "most people in Acadiana already have a shirt with a gumbo stain; we won't be able to know who really registered!).

Participating venues so far include: The GreenroomLegends of LafayetteThe Wurst Biergarten, and The Jefferson Street Pub! The Downtown Gumbo Crawl After Perty will be above Dat Dog in the 2nd Floor Nightclub.

Purchase your ticket in advance (tickets will NOT be available on the night of the event)  www.socialentertainment.net. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Krewe de Canailles walking parade.
