Drive-through daiquiri stands as we know it may be in jeopardy!

Earlier today (March 1), new Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Rebekah Gee told legislators that she would like to do away with drive-through daiquiri shops.

Maybe you can help me: There's a sacred cow in this state that's called the drive-through daiquiri stand. The idea that you can drive up and get liquor and drive off in your car and drink it while you're driving -- no one will let me deal with it but if you want to do it we'll be the most unpopular people here. It just befuddles me.

According to NOLA.com, this isn't the first time drive-through daiquiris were a topic amongst legislators, but the last time there was a plan in place to alter the way fruity drinks are currently being served through a window, the bill failed.

Do you agree or disagree with Secretary Gee?

When it comes to what makes our state unique, out of towners always flip out when they get their first drive-through daiquiri experience. Of course, responsibility comes with the territory, and I dont have the numbers in front of me—but for the most part, there haven't been any known major issues specifically related to drive-through daiquiri shops.

No one said if they were for or against Gee's stance, but state representative Bob Hensgens from Abbeville, LA simply said that "as a representative from Acadiana" he would "stay away" from her stance.

I don't blame you, Bob. #HoldMyDaiquiri
