CHURCH POINT, La. (AP) — Acadia Parish School Superintendent John Bourque said the bus driver who allegedly left a 4-year-old boy on a school bus for 7 hours Monday is no longer working with the Student Transportation Service.

KATC TV reports Bourque was not able to say why the driver was no longer employed or give the driver's name, citing civil service restrictions.

Latesha Hagger, the child's mother, says she picked up her son from the bus stop Monday afternoon when she says a bus aide told her that her son was found on the bus at the end of the day.

The boy told his mom he cried when he couldn't get off the bus, then fell asleep. Hagger says no one at Church Point Elementary even noticed her son wasn't in school.
