HOUMA, La. (AP) — Terrebonne Parish officials say at least 10 Terrebonne teenagers took drugs, alcohol and a gun to school this month.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter tells The Courier drug dogs found the contraband during random checks of school lockers and parking lots.

Searches will continue in the coming weeks, and Larpenter said he urges students to think twice before bringing these items to school.

Maj. Malcolm Wolfe says a small amount of marijuana was found Sept. 16 inside a South Terrebonne High School student's car

Wolfe says a 17-year-old was booked with one count of possession of marijuana.

At H.L. Bourgeois High School on Wednesday, Wolfe says six students were allegedly caught with illegal items in their cars.
