Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel joined, "Mornings With Ken and Bernie" for his weekly radio segment called, "Lafayette Live" to talk about the recently approved budget and take listener's calls.

Durel spoke this morning about how the council voted to approve the budget, some of the changes they made, and their choice to vote to allow some SafeLight money to go to salaries under the police department.  SafeLight fines are generated when a person speeds through an intersection with a camera.

Durel says the ordinance clearly states that the funds generated from the program can be used for salaries.

Later in the show Durel also addressed traffic questions.
