Following the discovery of a 20-year-old girl dead in her home in Fordoche, her ex-boyfriend is now in custody. Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Bud Torres says 21-year-old Eric Duhon Junior of Duson was arrested last night and booked this morning, charged with second-degree murder in the death of Madeline Falgout.

“My investigators were able to secure a confession from him for this crime plus the forensic evidence. The jury is out on that until we get all the information back, but we are building our case.”

Falgout was discovered in the residence around 10:45 AM yesterday and officials believe the murder weapon was a baseball bat. Torres says the motive is unclear.

“We really don’t know at this time, but I think that as we have a chance to discuss it more and complete our investigation, we should have more.”

The sheriff says it’s important for law enforcement to be successful when something like this impacts a community, crediting the hard work of his team for a job well done.

“It is very satisfying to see that we have some closure for the family and now the judicial process will take its course. We feel confident that we will get a conviction and put this matter to rest.”

Investigators say a family member discovered Falgout inside her home on yesterday. Duhon is being held in the parish jail.
