Duson Man Arrested After Fight Involving Ax & Pocket Knife

A fight leads to a man getting cut in the head several times with a pocket knife and an ax allegedly being pulled out on him.

According to our news partners at KATC, Frederick Mitchell Jr. of Duson is in jail facing a charge of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon after Lafayette Parish sheriff's deputies say the fight included both men pulling weapons on each other. But deputies say the victim never struck Mitchell with the pipe he pulled out.

It was after the victim pulled out that pipe when deputies say Mitchell allegedly grabbed the ax from his house. At one point, deputies say the victim then threw chairs and trash cans at Mitchell to keep him away.

Once the fight went inside the house, that's when investigators say Mitchell pulled the pocket knife and cut the victim several times.

Mitchell is in jail without bond.
