With the coming of the new year, do the rules stay the same on using social media to build your brand?  Jaci Russo visited the Afternoon Drive Home to talk about it, particularly in the realm of Ecommerce.

Russo said that 2013 will be the year of Ecommerce.  Russo said,

At the end of the day, Ecommerce is what it's all about, because if we are not selling, we're not going to be in business for very long.

Russo reminded us that consumers are a lot smarter than they were a few years ago because of the impact of social media.  Russo suggested that you take the time to build a relationship with consumers that want to relate to you.

One of the ways to get good word of mouth is to get people who you would consider brand advocates.  These are people that believe so strongly in you that they will defend you.  Russo said that is important because,

So if somebody goes online and says something negative about you, your advocates will stand up and share their experience, which is positive.
