BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputy accused of forgery has been arrested.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks says 22-year-old Shanequa Lovely had called in sick to work on Friday.

Hicks says Lovely had excessive absences, so her supervisor asked her to provide a doctor's excuse when returning to work.

She says Lovely turned in an old excuse with altered dates. The supervisor contacted the doctor's office, which confirmed the forgery.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/LlzxU5 ) Lovely was fired Tuesday and booked into Parish Prison on one count of forgery.

Lovely had worked for the sheriff's office since 2010 at Parish Prison.
