BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An East Baton Rouge Parish Prison employee has been arrested in the theft of a CVS Pharmacy security deposit of more than $4,000.

The Advocate reports Donnie Hookfin, who had been working in security at Parish Prison for the last seven years, was fired and booked Monday on one count of theft.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks says Hookfin was working an extra-duty security detail for an unidentified local organization on Sept. 23 and was making a deposit for the organization at a local bank's overnight deposit box.

Hicks says a CVS employee had dropped off the pharmacy's nightly deposit just before Hookfin made his deposit.

When Hookfin went to make the deposit for his organization, Hicks says the CVS deposit had not dropped completely into the box.
