CLINTON, La. (AP) — East Feliciana Parish police jurors have voted to pay themselves $50 for each committee meeting they attend.

Jurors Chris Hall, Larry Beauchamp, Edward Brooks, Dwight Hill and Louis Kent voted Monday for the recommendation that Hall and Beauchamp said the Finance Committee recommended at a meeting last week.

Jurors Keith Mills, Jason McCray and Karl Chaney voted against the pay, with Chaney declaring it a jury "pay raise."

Hill, who attended the Finance Committee meeting, said the committee did not vote on the recommendation, but Hall and Beauchamp said Hill left the meeting before it adjourned.

Hill voted for payments after jurors agreed no member had to take the money.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/LhSmvg ) jurors are paid more than $10,000 annually
