Economic District Request Pulled

Lafayette will not be getting a four-star luxury hotel and convention center, at least for now. 

This weekend, developer Dr. Glenn Stewart along with Greg Gothroeaux the Executive Director of the Industrial Development Board for  Lafayette withdrew their proposal to create taxing districts to pay for the project.  The city parish council was expected to take up the request tomorrow night.  The decision to withdraw came after days of public opposition for the "TIF", particularly from the Tea Party of Lafayette.  Stewart says he will continue with plans for a four-star boutique hotel and retail center.
