A Senate panel has refused to repeal a Louisiana law that allows public school science teachers to use supplemental materials in their classrooms beyond state-approved textbooks. More than 40 Nobel Prize-winning scientists urged the repeal of the Louisiana Science Education Act, saying it creates a way for teachers to challenge evolution and teach creationism in classrooms.
