Acadiana residents will get a chance to speak to Louisiana's top education official Tuesday.

Louisiana Department of Education Superintendent John White will be hosting a series of forums around the state to evaluate the needs of students around the state.

White's office is hosting the first of the forums at Lafayette Middle School (1301 W. University Ave.) at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

He plans to also discuss the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and what the opportunities provided under the new federal law

Parents and educators will also be given the opportunity to offer feedback on what updates need to be made to the state's education system.
