City-Parish President Joey Durel joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today for his weekly session of 'Lafayette Live'.  Our first question for Durel from a listener concerned street reconstruction.  We asked Durel if it would not be more efficient to completely close off a street to resurface the street or add additional lanes instead of drivers having to dodge construction workers.  In reply Durel said,

It might be more efficient but construction is based on the lowest bid and usually doing the work piece-meal is the lowest cost way.  In addition I probably would be strung up by the nearest tree if we would block off all entrances to a subdivision or access to a group of businesses.

In addition we discussed:

  • City-Parish Council elections
  • street flooding today
  • The upcoming "State of the Parish" address
