State Senator Jonathan Perry will be moving on from the Louisiana Legislature to another service capacity this Fall.

Perry was elected to fill the vacancy on Louisiana's Court of Appeal, Third Circuit, and he will be taking his oath for that job as of January 1, 2019.

With Perry's resignation to accept the new position, there will be a vacancy in his District 26 Senate seat.

Senate President John Alario says the special election fill Perry's seat will actually just coincide with the November primary and December runoff if needed.

Qualifying for the seat will be held August 8-10.

The general election will happen on November 6 with the runoff slated for December 8.

Perry has served District 26 in the Senate since 2011.

The district is made up of all of Vermilion Parish along with parts of Lafayette, Acadia and St. Landry.
