Emergency Bridge Closure In Lafayette

The Gallet Rd. Bridge between LA 82 and Simon Rd (near the Lafayette/Vermilion Parish line) is closed indefinitely until further notice. City officials say they are closing the bridge, which crosses Darby Coulee, because of the structural deficiency of the timber piles. It will remain closed until sufficient funds are allocated to replace the bridge. Detour routes will be made available.
