YOUNGSVILLE, La. (AP) — Portions of Chemin Metairie Parkway are crumbling under the weight of heavy trucks hauling construction materials and Youngsville officials say they must make emergency repairs.

Mayor Wilson Viator tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1jyIZtc ) that the City Council has declared the situation a public emergency and plans to move quickly to resurface the road at a cost estimated at up to $750,000.

The damage is in the roundabout at East Milton Avenue and Chemin Metairie Parkway and the southbound lane of Chemin Metairie heading south from the roundabout.
